Would be pretty unusual if that happened, and as hot as the pipe runs any air hitting the valve will be warm enough not to cause any damage. They may have been some truth to the item when they had real short stacks on boats and some cars/bikes. The Raask pipe is a quality item, double wall with a baffle if you want it. If you want just loud, I'll make you a sweet deal on a cut off (last foot) Highway Hawk drag pipe. I'll include the cut off piece. I ran it straight for a couple weeks, didn't like the noise and sound, used it for a head pipe for a HD muffler. Liked that better so bought a used Raask, and cut the end off it to use as a header.
